About

Surya represents the soul, father, government, authority, confidence and eyesight in Vedic astrology. When Surya is weak, debilitated, retrograde or afflicted in the kundli, or during its Mahadasha and Antardasha, a person may experience low confidence, conflicts with father or boss, government troubles, heart and eye problems. Surya Graha Shanti Puja is the Vedic remedy: the graha is invoked on its mandal with red flowers and cloth, its beej mantra is chanted 7,000 times (as prescribed in the shastras), and a havan with Aak samidha completes the anushthan. Daan of wheat, jaggery, copper, red cloth is done in your name. The puja is performed on Sunday, the day ruled by Surya.
