Mangalnath Mandir, Ujjain

According to the Matsya Purana, Ujjain is the birthplace of Mangal (Mars), and Mangalnath temple marks that sacred spot on the banks of the Kshipra. It is the foremost place in India for Mangal Dosh (Manglik) nivaran. The special Bhaat Puja, in which the Shivling is adorned with cooked rice to cool the fiery nature of Mars, is performed only here.
